Private Calmbirth® Birth Preparation

Personalised Birth Education

Private Calmbirth® sessions offer the opportunity to prepare for birth in a way that reflects your individual circumstances, values and priorities.

Working one-on-one with experienced midwife and Calmbirth® educator Kate Corbett, you’ll have the space to ask questions, explore concerns and gain clarity around the decisions that matter most to you and your family.

Whether you’re preparing for your first baby, navigating a previous birth experience or simply value a more individualised approach, private sessions allow the course to be tailored to your unique journey.

Private Calmbirth® includes:

A More Personalised Approach to Birth Preparation

Learning in your own home creates a relaxed environment where questions, concerns and goals can be explored at your own pace.

Many families choose private sessions because they value the opportunity to explore their individual circumstances in greater depth. This may include previous birth experiences, complex pregnancies, demanding work schedules or simply a preference for one-on-one learning.

Together, you’ll have the space to explore what matters most to you, understand your options, clarify your priorities and prepare for the decisions and experiences that may shape your journey into parenthood.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the sessions held?

Private Calmbirth® sessions are held in the comfort of your own home throughout the Central Coast region. This allows you to learn in a familiar environment and tailor the experience to your individual needs and circumstances.

How often are the sessions scheduled?

There is no set schedule for private Calmbirth®. Sessions can be spaced weekly, fortnightly or further apart depending on your needs and availability. Some families also choose to complete multiple sessions within the same week. Together, we’ll create a schedule that feels right for you and your preparation.

Is private Calmbirth® different from the group course?

The curriculum and content are the same as the group course. The difference is the format. Private sessions provide greater flexibility, personalised discussion and the opportunity to explore your individual circumstances in more depth.

What does a private Calmbirth® session involve?

Each session includes a combination of discussion, childbirth education and practical activities. Together we’ll explore birth physiology, common maternity care practices and decision-making, while also practising relaxation, breathing, massage, acupressure, movement and birth partner support techniques.

When is the best time to attend?

Most families attend between 24 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. However, some choose to begin earlier to allow more time to reflect on their options, while others attend later depending on their circumstances.

Can I claim Calmbirth® through my private health fund?

Some private health funds provide rebates for childbirth education. Depending on your level of cover, you may be able to claim through providers such as NIB, Australian Unity, GMHBA or GU Health. A receipt can be provided for claiming purposes. We recommend checking directly with your health fund regarding your eligibility.
